I wanted to take this opportunity to share with you our Union events and status.
Next week will be starting District 14 negotiations on our mid-contract one article opener. In that we have chosen to open Article 15. Negotiations will be held at Headquarters on Wednesday April 11, from 15:00 – 17:00. This is an open negotiation and open to all. If you are available, please come to negotiations and show your support.
Local 1826 will be holding elections for a new Vice President. Elections are scheduled for:

In the past month two bills which could have affected Collier County were removed from legislation:
· House Bill 285 Exempting Governmental Entities (special districts) from needing a COPCN to perform Non-Transport ALS. This Bill Died in Committed and was removed from consideration.
· Senate Bill 488 Exempting Governmental Entities (special districts) from needing a COPCN to perform Non-Transport ALS. This Bill Died in Committed and was removed from consideration.
In addition, two bills were signed by the Governor into law that have the potential to effect Collier:
· Senate Bill 376 Workers Compensation to cover mental and nervous injuries (PTSD) to Emergency Medical Technicians and Paramedics (Signed into law by the Governor 3/27/2018)
· House Bill 1395 Exempted the City of Marco Island from needing a COPCN from Collier County to provide ALS Transport (ambulance) service (The city of Marco Island is now required to have an approval vote of its citizens to initiate Emergency Medical Transport Service) This bill was sent to the Governor on 3/16/2018 and an approval was signed by the Governor on 3/23/2018.
